Chamadan

(Egypt)

Egyptian candelabra dance is traditionally found at weddings, namely the procession for the bride and groom.

Candles signify luck and chase away bad spirits.

Chamadan dancing as part of the Egyptian Zeffa began in the early 20th century. The first dance to use a Clob (Candle Lantern) balanced on her head during the Zeffa, this began in the early 20th century (Lucy Smith).
